ROUNDUP OF THE MAY 2022 MEETING
Hi
We had a fair turnout for the last meeting of the season, with good weather for travelling.
We have made it to the end of the season in a good financial situation of a small surplus due Tom Crompton's good Stewardship and generosity of the members. Thanks to Tom and all!
Dave Whitehouse has negotiated a continued hiring of the hall and will try to negotiate some Velodrome meetings once their refurbishment is complete.
I'd like to thank you all. We made it through Covid and have managed to emerge largely unscathed, although some of our members have suffered serious health problems.
I have missed my good friend Reg Boor, who is now well settled in southern climes! Pete Turner has moved onto new interests and I hope he is happy in his new ventures. Pete and I started our indoor career at the same time in the original Wigan Based NORWIND group, so we go back a long way, along with Paul Channon who has recently had family health problems.
So... what happened at the meeting?

The main activity centred around the double competition of "Osprey" and "Bostonian"

MAY 2022 COMPETITION RESULTS

OSPREY

2nd - Neil Stewart - 3.10

NORWIND COVID PRECAUTIONS (Hopefully temporary)
Although we are technically free of restriction, we wish to establish a Covid etiquette which protects you and others.:
Many of our members are over 60 and a few are health compromised to the point that contracting even a mild form of Covid would be very serious (myself included!). We therefore ask for your observation of a few commonsense rules.
We are now formally exempt from using face coverings, you may wish to for medical reasons,
1. At any sign of Covid symptoms, please refrain from attending until a test proves that you are clear.
2. Please ensure that you have a CLEAN mask with you.
3. Avoid personal touching. As the hall is so big and tables are spread at least 2 metres
4. If you wish to approach another flier who is not in your bubble, maintain a reasonable distance while talking.
5. Hand sanitizers are placed near the door which leads to the toilet and one by the hall entrance. You MUST use them before and after using the toilets and opening any other door.
6. Avoid touching models or equipment belonging to another flier, even if you intend to be helpful. If you need to use a steering pole to retrieve a stuck model, ask Dave Whitehouse, or see me about mine. We will ensure the poles stay sanitized.
7. Please try to bring the correct fee (£15) which can be placed into a box, eliminating the need for Tom Crompton to handle the cash until a suitable quarantine period has passed.
We want to keep rules to a minimum and we believe that we will not have to insist on compliance.

Great to be back doing what we all love!

The John Barker Memorial Trophy wasn't ordered recently due to the Covid disruptions. We will consider how to reinstate this when we decide upon the competition schedule for 2022-23
